# 181: Weath of Nations

I'll keep this rant brief otherwise I'll by be typing all night about an issue no-one cares about!

Why is Adam Smith on the Bank of England twenty pound note?

I get that he'd the father of Economics and that "The Wealth of Nations" was an extremely important book, and that he was a key figure in the Scottish Enlightenment and all that. But there is a key word there, namely "Scottish". He'd not even English so what is he doing on an English bank note? Would the Scots put Joseph Priestley on one of there bank notes? I think not!

Also we only have 4 bank notes in England £5, £10, £20, and £50 and when was the last time anyone saw a £50 so really thats 3.

In Scotland they also have the £1, and £100 so thats 6 all of which they use and they have three banks that mint notes therefore 18 opportunities to put a Scotsman on a bank note.

Thats 6 times more! How do i start a petition? I hope that The Bank of Scotland, The Royal Bank of Scotland, and The Clydesdale, all realise that there's such a thing as a strongly worded letter to The Scotsman!
